Description
Giverny: a charming Impressionist village. If there is one name that brings to mind Impressionism, it is Giverny, where Claude Monet settled down in 1883 and planted his splendid garden that comes back to life each spring. Soon after he settled there, numerous painters, including many Americans, swarmed to capture the light, to study with Monet in the heart of the landscapes that have inspired the famous artist. Nowadays, Giverny has kept its spirit, its character and its authenticity. Everywhere along the little streets, wisteria and Virginia creeper cover the colourful houses. Art galleries and studios of painters, artists and designers are scattered throughout the village, which always provides an inspiring walk. Must-sees: Claude Monet's house and garden and the Museum of Impressionisms of Giverny are two of the main highlights in this famous little village.
